Cavallo Island

Cavallo (in Corsican language Isula Cavaddu and in Sardinian dialect Isula Caddu) is a small private island located in the north of the Lavezzi archipelago in French territorial waters in the Straight of Bonifacio, between Corsica and Sardinia.
The overwhelming nature of the island has been preserved thanks to an environmentally sustainable management-concept in all its nuances.
Over the years it has become a very appreciated and exclusive destination for celebrities.
The French architect Jacques Couelle has planned and developed several dwellings on this Island.

Sea & Beach

Cavallo is a natural marine reserve.
Hotel’s beach is the only beach on the island equipped with shaded areas, sun loungers and a bar service.
The beach can be exclusively used by the guests.

Walking bare foot on the white beaches of the island is a unique emotional experience: fine sand, and pink nuances, shells and crystal clear waves. The luckiest may find the symbol of the Island: the shells called the eyes of Saint Lucy. Some paradise beaches such as Palmà, Greco, Zeri, and la Double take golden reflexes at the sunset.

Activities

Granitic basements have created the beautiful Cavallo Island.
It had been uninhabited for thousands of years, until Romans exploited it as a resource for the construction of travertine columns. They were used as decoration for important monuments and refined “Ville Patrizie”.

The Island was definitely abandoned under the Augustan Empire and forgotten for many years. It was feared by sailors for its hidden dangers disguised as beautiful shores.

It was rediscovered in 1800 by Terrazzoni, a shepherd who moved there with his flock. Afterwards Jean Castel, a famous playboy from Paris and owner of the homonymous “Castel Club”, turned the Island into his refuge where he would spend most of the year with his friends.

Under the crystal clear water of the Island, archeological finds came to surface, they are from different ancients ages. They got collected over the years.

Groupers hidden among the granitic rocks under the sea can also be found.

Cavallo Island is unique for its exclusivity, privacy and uncontaminated shores.

TENNIS AND PADEL

Guests have the possibility to play in an uncontaminated nature. There are two fantastic courts on Cavallo Island and rackets and balls are available for our guests at the Reception of our Hotel.

THE SPERONE GOLF CLUB

The Golf Court has 18 holes and stretches over 135 hectares, it was planned by Robert Trent Jones and classified as one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. It faces the sea and the maquis, on the Sperone promontory.

DIVING

City of Groupers, discovering ancient wrecks and schools of fish. The Diving Team will guide you through the silent and fascinating underwater world. This activity is available from 1st of June to 15 September, is on request and subject to weather conditions.

ELECTRIC CARS

The freedom of exploring and discovering an uncontaminated reserve of overwhelming beauty by electric cars.

BOAT TOURS

Nautic Adventure is perfect to discover the islands of the Lavezzi archipelago. Boat rental with/without a skipper.

THE PORT OF CAVALLO

The port of Cavallo can lodge up to 200 units for a maximum size of 35-meter-vessels. Berths are equipped with fresh water supply hoses and on-shore power supply systems (220 Volts and 380 Volts).
